Just found out that their is Fibre laid down around stornoway, with a throughtput of 26 megs. Only buildings linked in are Public Sector ones and the cost of connection to being for a commerical company to the fiber is £5K ( digging up the ground )

That last few hundred metres with fibre is an expensive business.

You can get access to the network through a wireless tower at Studio Alba with a connection of up to 8 megs symmetric.
